With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Morla Sue Ellen Bailey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Born on August 22, 1937, in Clarksville, Texas, to the late Morlin and Ruby Ellen Campbell, Sue's radiant spirit graced this world for 86 years. On July 19, 2024, she peacefully departed from this life in Paragould surrounded by her loving family.
Sue graduated high school in El Cerrito, California, in 1955 where she honed her passion for learning and personal growth. On June 11, 1955, she joyfully married her soulmate, Thomas, and they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted a lifetime.
During her career, Sue worked diliently at the shoe factory before transitioning to her most cherished role as a homemaker, raising her four children with unwavering love and dedication. Her devotion extended beyond her family as she shared her nurturing spirit as a 4-H leader and actively engaged in children's programs, enriching the lives of many.
Sue found solace and joy in the art of sewing and quilting, channeling her creativity into beautiful creations and expressing herself through her craft. Her commitment to her local community was evident through her role as a board member for the Greene County Fair for an impressive 18 years and member of WMU and EHC for 69 years, leaving a lasting impact on all she encountered.
A beacon of light in the lives of many, Sue's memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 69 years, W. Thomas Bailey; children, Pam Kersey of Memphis, William T. Bailey of Paragould, Joyce (Ron) Leonard of Hernando, Mississippi, and Shirley (Kerry) Pugh of Paragould; sister, Dwala Lile; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ted and Tom Campbell.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Sue's life at a memorial service held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 2 pm at New Friendship Baptist Church. A visitation will follow the service until 4 pm. In memory of Sue, please send memorials to New Friendship Cemetery Fund, 3408 Sueann Drive, Paragould, Arkansas, 72450.
