FORREST CITY - Alice Faye Oswalt, age 82, of Forrest City, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at her daughter's home in Jonesboro. She had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mrs. Oswalt was born Aug. 1, 1942 in Tichnor, and was the daughter of Presley Ottmar James and Jennie Elwanda Jones James. She moved to St. Francis County in 1973, was an employee for the Forrest City School District as a cafeteria manager, was active in the Crowley's Ridge Saddle Club, and was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Oswalt married Gerald Oswalt in 1965, and he preceded her in death in 2021. She is survived by one son, Will Oswalt, and his wife, Penny, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Brenda Hunter of Jonesboro; one brother, Jerry James of Lonoke; two sisters, Mae James and Wanda James, both of Carlisle; along with five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy James and Kenny James; one sister, Barbara Lee; and one son-in-law, John Hunter.
Services for Mrs. Oswalt will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service.
