Billy Grogan Obituary

PARAGOULD - Billy Haynes Grogan, Sr., known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away on Nov. 2, 2025, in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 85. Bill was born on Dec. 3, 1939, in Kennett, Missouri, to loving parents, Haynes Edward and Lottie Nell Grogan, who instilled in him the values of hard work and community service.

A proud graduate of Caruth High School in 1957, Bill's early education laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication to his work and the people around him. He began his career in the hardware industry, where he would remain for over four decades. Bill's tenure at Riggs Wholesale spanned over 50 years, a testament to his loyalty and commitment. He also imparted his knowledge and skills at Gazaway Lumber for several years, where his expertise was greatly valued.

Beyond his professional life, Bill was deeply rooted in his Christian faith, being a devoted member of Liberty Church of Christ for over 40 years. His faith was a guiding light in his life, providing him with strength and comfort throughout his years.

Bill had a zest for life that was infectious to all who knew him. He was a true people person who loved to talk and could often be found at auctions, wheeling and dealing with the best of them. His charismatic personality and his knack for conversation made him a beloved figure in his community.

Those who knew Bill were well aware of his phenomenal skills as a finish carpenter. His meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook. If something was broken everyone called Bill. He could fix anything.

Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life. He cherished his trips to Branson with his loved ones, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, imparting wisdom and sharing in their laughter and love.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerre Nell Grogan; son, Darrin Grogan, siblings, Barbara Sue Grogan, Jim Grogan, and Linda Grogan Biggs.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pat Grogan; sons, Bill Grogan, Jr. (Sharon) and Jason Grogan (Lori); grandchildren, Robert Grogan, Lee Grogan, Hannah Grogan, and Ryan Nel Grogan; great-grandchildren, James Grogan, Luke Grogan, and Jace Grogan; step-children, Steve Wood, Tim Wood, and Harlon Wood (Susan); step-grandchildren, Sara Rowe and Stephanie Garner; great-grandchildren, Sophie Garner and Stockton Rowe; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 5, from noon until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Dakota Crossno officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery.

Jonathan Blaho, Eric Stacy, Michael Adams, Adam Adams, Robert Grogan, and Lee Grogan will serve as pallbearers. Paul Bass, Ronnie Morgan, Steve Wood, Harlon Wood, Tim Wood, Kevin Millikin, Cameron Clark, Corbin Clark, Joey Clark, and Charles Williams will serve as honorary pallbearers.
