PARAGOULD - Bobby "Bob" Gene Dodson, 84, of Paragould, passed from this life Saturday, May 4, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born April 24, 1940, in Paragould to the late Leonard and Lettie Dodson.
Bob has lived in Paragould for the last 18 years having previously lived in several other places including Phoenix and the Philippines. Bob served our great country in the United States Air Force for 27 years, including during the Vietnam War, and retired in 1985 as senior master sergeant.
Bob was an avid marksman and enjoyed hunting. His other hobbies included bowling, woodworking and planting various things such as his beloved pecan trees.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Hartsell, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Juliana Deang and Eladio Deang.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Dodson of the home; sons, Roel Agsaoay (Jogenia) of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Robert Dodson of Bono; daughters, Melanie Thornton (Ronnie DuQuette) of Concord, N.C., and Genia Dodson of Phoenix; brothers, Terry Dodson (Carla) of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Jerry Dodson (Patty) of Jonesboro; sister, Sandra Upton of Harvest, Ala.; as well as grandchildren, Shawnee Agsaoay, Roel Agsaoay Jr., Chris Melton and Nathan Melton.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 10 a.m. with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will follow in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye.
