Darrell Hyde Obituary
BARTLETT, Tenn. - James Darrell Hyde, 72, of Bartlett, Tenn., passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023. He was born in Paragould on Feb. 25, 1951, to James Doyle and Betty Hyde.
Darrell graduated from Stanford High School in 1969. He received a basketball scholarship to Southern Baptist College. After college, he worked at Art's Auto Parts and Homestead Department Store before going to work for Auto Zone.
He advanced with Auto Zone several times and retired over commercial accounts. Darrell returned to work for O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
Darrell loved cars whether he was restoring one or racing one. He built several cars from the frame up. He enjoyed traveling in the cars he built and he would often drive them through the Ozark Mountains.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.
Darrell is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Bobby) Ewing of Myrtle, Miss.; stepdaughter, Shelley (Chris) Ontl of Bartlett; grandchildren, Shelby (Ricky) John of Atoka, Tenn., Cory (Taylor) Willis of Myrtle, Ryan Neely of Oakland, Tenn., Kayla Grieme of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jaiden Ontl of Bartlett; great-grandchildren, Wyatt John Atoka and Charlotte Neely of Oakland; brother, Perry Hyde of Leslie; sister, Janie McCarrell of Olive Branch, Miss.; niece, Shawna (Brandon) Lake of Avon, Ind.; nephew, Billy McCarrell of Olive Branch; great-niece, Braylee Jo Lake of Avon; and special friend, Casey Erzen of Bartlett.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mountain Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy McCarrell, Chris Ontl, Bobby Ewing, Cory Willis and Dylan Ewing.
Honorary pallbearers will include Ralph Davis and Perry Hyde.
