Donald Toombs Obituary

JONESBORO - Donald Raymond "Don" Toombs, 85, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Senath, Mo., to the late Raymond and Louise Toombs.

Don grew up in Portageville, Mo., before moving to Jonesboro to attend Arkansas State University. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Don had a State Farm Agency in Jonesboro for over 37 years.

He enjoyed music and was an avid golfer. Don was a large ASU athletics supporter and a Green Bay Packers fan.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister, Anita "Skeet" Moody.

Survivors include his son, John (Ange) Toombs of Niceville, Fla.; daughter, Laura (Steve) Thompson of Jonesboro; a brother, Bill (Karen) Toombs of Germantown, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. today, March 24, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Kevin Gore officiating. Burial will be private.
