Geraldine Rose Obituary

OAK LAWN, Ill. -Geraldine Rose, age 75, of Oak Lawn, Ill., peacefully departed from this life at her home on Oct. 21, 2025. Born on Oct. 24, 1949, in Paragould, to James and Dora Mae Abbott, Geraldine spent most of her life in Paragould before moving in recent years to Oak Lawn, Ill., to live with her daughter, Beverly Halbrook.

Geraldine found joy in flower gardening, spending time with family, and listening to classic country music, especially her favorite artist, Conway Twitty. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed browsing antique shops and "junk" stores. Her love for her two dogs, Izzy and Conway, was evident to all who knew her.

Geraldine will be remembered by her outstanding ability to cook, her tireless work ethic, and her generous heart. Throughout her life, she held various jobs, often balancing more than one at a time, and was admired by many for her dedication and strong work ethic. Geraldine will be remembered by her family and friends as her house being the "meeting place". As the eldest daughter, Geraldine was more like a mom to her younger siblings.

Geraldine is survived by three daughters, Beverly Halbrook of Oak Lawn, Ill., Sherrie (Jim Ed) Hardin of Jonesboro, and Brenda (Cody) Fowler of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Heather Boss of Oak Forest, Ill.; Dawn (Micheal) Omiecinski, of Oak Forest, Ill.; Billy (Megan) Boss, of San Francisco, Calif.; Ryan (Daniel) Dust of Mokena, Ill.; Tristian Banks of Pleasant Plains, Ark.; Madison (Kyle) Metcalf, of Jonesboro, Bailey Imming, of Little Rock; and Grace Hardin, of Jonesboro. Her great-grandchildren include Elly Omiecinski, Conner Boss, Rory Dust, Timmy Dust, and Will Dust.

Geraldine is also survived by her sisters: Ima (Bob) Huffines, Debra Jones, and

Christine Abbott, all of Paragould, along with several extended family members and friends, who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Allen and Dora Mae Abbott; her sister, Teresa Marlene Abbott; and her brothers Frank, Bill, Cletus, Claude, Johnny, and Bobby Joe Abbott.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, her family will honor her memory with a celebration of life on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Lake Frierson State Park Pavilion. All family and friends are welcome to attend and share in remembering and celebrating Geraldine's remarkable life.
