JONESBORO - Jack E. Richardson, a cherished husband, father and grandpa, known for his kind, loving, caring and humorous personality, left us on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Born May 14, 1937, in St. Louis, Jack lived a Christian life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others. He was a graduate of Brookland High School and a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He began his career with the National Guard in 1957 and retired in 1994 at the rank of chief warrant officer 3. At that time, he began his second career as the director of the Office of Emergency Management Services in Craighead County, a title he held for 13 years. Jack was active in the Radio Club, Military Officers Association and the American Legion, and he helped start the Farrville Fire Department, where he was the first fire chief. He could be found on most Saturdays enjoying breakfast at Huddle House, getting his reward points and visiting and joking with others. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Carrie Houchin Richardson, and his younger brother, Tom Richardson. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara; his children, Tami Freeman of Jonesboro, Jack Jr. (Kathy) of Saginaw, Mich., Terri (Terry) Presley of Pocahontas, and Laura (Matt) Hollis of Rector; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Monday with the Rev. Billy Vanderbilt officiating. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. with the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be grandsons Jim Presley, Allen Presley, Tyler Cook, Kyle Hollis, James Richardson, Xander Flemon, Sawyer Flemon and Keegan Presley.
