JONESBORO - It is with heavy, yet celebratory, hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Dolores Jeannine Virgin, age 93. Surrounded by loved ones, Jeannine entered into rest Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. She was born in Paul's Switch on Jan. 6, 1931.
Jeannine was blessed with many talents. She was a self-trained artist, pianist, seamstress and gardener, to name a few. Most importantly, she loved helping others. Her greatest joy in life was entertaining her family during the holidays and preparing meals for them throughout the year.
Her love for church began in a small Baptist church in Paul's Switch. In her younger days, she served as a pianist in the Baptist church on West Monroe in Jonesboro. She taught her children and grandchildren to love God, which was an ongoing lesson until the very end.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Bessie Knight O'Connor, her stepmother, Ruby Parker O'Connor, and by her daughter, Jeannita Caples.
She leaves behind three sons, all of Jonesboro, Freddy (Laura) Caples, David (Pam) Virgin and Danny (Alynda) Tucker, along with five grandchildren, Carla (Charlie) Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jesse Tucker, Halen Virgin, Daya Tucker and Alana Tucker, all of Jonesboro.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Bono.
