MANILA - Jerrie Jeanne Rogers Walden went to be with the Lord on Oct. 22, 2023, in Manila. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Jerrie was born to Jeanne and Clayton Rogers in Jonesboro on Nov. 16, 1948. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Jerrie worked as an agent for Allstate Insurance for more than 30 years and was one of the first women employed by the company. She was a Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow and was actively involved in the Jonesboro Life Underwriters group. In addition to being knowledgeable, Jerrie had a bubbly personality that made her clients feel welcome and heard.
Jerrie was also involved in her community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro, taught Sunday school, was a Girl Scout troop leader, and worked with both the United Way and Habitat for Humanity.
Jerrie will be remembered as a bundle of positive energy. Whether singing and dancing in the kitchen, jumping up and down in the stands cheering for her children and grandchildren, or happily playing bridge with her friends, Jerrie was always smiling and laughing. Her kindness and sweet nature were readily apparent and will be remembered fondly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard Walden of the home; son, Craig Forrest and wife Tanesha of Little Rock; son, Rich Walden and wife Paulette of Dallas, and daughter, Marie Cauldwell and husband Corbin of Rogers.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Reece Forrest, Jack Henry Forrest, Molly Forrest, Elizabeth Cauldwell, Anna Kate Cauldwell and Cooper Cauldwell, and by her brother, Bill Rogers and sister-in-law Diane of Jonesboro.
Jerrie loved to walk her dogs, Caine and Benji, who also survived her.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clayton and Jeanne Rogers, and by several trusty and loving dogs.
Funeral services are under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. All friends and family are welcome.
