Jimmie Cone

1934 - 2023

PARAGOULD - The Rev. Jimmie Allen Cone, 88, of Paragould, passed from this life Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at The Green House Cottages of Belle Meade. He was born in Greene County on Nov. 5, 1934, to the late James and Roxie Adams Cone.

Jimmie was a veteran having served his country in the United States Army. He married Clara Garner on July 4, 1956. Jimmie retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. He was also a retired Southern Baptist preacher having pastored at Stonewall Baptist Church.

He loved his cats and birds, and it brought him much joy to care for them. Jimmie had many hobbies including fishing, playing guitar, gardening, horseshoes and writing Southern gospel songs.

Jimmie considered himself blessed to share God's testimony with others through preaching, singing and playing his music for them.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Luther Cone, and mother and stepfather, Roxie and Burrell Kendall.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Clara Cone; daughter, Tammie Clark; son, Allen Cone; grandchildren, Zebedee Cone, Jay (Breanna) Clark and Robert Clark; two sisters; and several nephews and nieces.

The family received friends Friday evening at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today, July 22, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Vowell officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Denny Vowell, Joshua Wiedel, Jay Clark, Robert Clark, Dave Knight and Theo Vowell.
