Jimmy Bradley Obituary

JONESBORO - Jimmy Rogers Bradley, 96, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital on Oct. 22, 2025. He was born on Aug. 16, 1929, in Charlotte, Ark., to the late Pearl and Monroe Bradley.

On Aug. 3, 1957, he married the love of his life, the late Mary Katherine Shawver, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of enduring love, commitment, faith, and laughter.

Jimmy never met a stranger and formed many cherished relationships throughout his life. None more cherished than that of his family, but his grandchildren, Cooper Bradley and Courtney Huckabee, were his world. Their accomplishments were his greatest treasures. He also cherished his son Brent and daughter-in-law Heather, and daughter Michelle. After moving to Little Rock, he helped care for a new fur baby named Izzy. Every day when Izzy would go to visit Jimmy, he would have a plate of food for her. They shared many meals together, much to Izzy's delight and her expanding waistline. Jimmy and Mary were valued members of their Oasis group. This group of friends brought joy and music to Jimmy and supported him through phone calls, cards, and fellowship. They helped Jimmy with all the changes he endured, and they kept his spirits up. Brent and Heather are grateful for this group and for their support.

He is survived by his son Brent (Heather), their son Cooper in Fort Collins, Colo., his daughter Michelle Boeckmann, and her daughter Courtney Huckabee (Matthew) and great-grandson William Huckabee, Texarkana, Texas.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary, his parents, and four siblings. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m., in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Bill Barber officiating.

Honorary pallbearers Cooper Bradley, Ben Bush, Lowell Faught, Wendell Jones, and Joe Rogers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made in honor of Jimmy to the Veterans Hospital, or The Fisher House, Little Rock, a home away from home for veterans and their families while seeking medical care.

A very special thank you to all the VA Hospital nurses, doctors, and staff who took care of Jimmy during his illness. He was honored daily for his service as a GI in the Army.

We would also like to thank the entire staff at The Summit at Chenal for taking Jimmy in and making him feel like a member of their family. Jimmy wanted for nothing as this group went out of their way to see that his wishes were met on a daily basis.

Nieces Margie Shawver and Dawn Shawver, and sister-in-law Linda Simpson, were especially helpful with Jimmy, and we would like to acknowledge them for their support.

Jimmy had so many friends who stepped in when he needed a helping hand. If you played even a small part in helping him after Mary's passing, God bless you all. Jimmy knew you were there for him, and he felt loved. He was a kind man and lived a faithful life, always helping others. It has been a life well lived.
