HUNTSVILLE - June Elizabeth Wall Combs, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022. She was born June 1, 1929, at Marked Tree. Her lifespan was 92 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James Noble Combs on July 15, 1996, in Jonesboro; parents, Arlie Wall and Ada Holder Wall Hinshaw of Weiner; siblings Edna Curell and Billie Ann Foster, both of Weiner, Doyle Wall of Memphis and Harold Wall of Clarksdale, Miss.
Their children include Larry Combs (Rita) of Huntsville, Steve Combs (Donna) of Heber Springs and Susan Combs Krumrei (Phillip) of Rotterdam, The Netherlands; grandchildren, Nedra Combs Pena, Brady Combs, Jason Combs (Janet), Andrew Combs, Catherine Combs, James Krumrei, Elizabeth Krumrei Mancuso (Brad) and Cornelius Krumrei; and great-grandchildren, Breanna Pena, Hannah Combs Rider (Seith), Carter Combs, Justus Mancuso, Jaxon Mancuso, and Mikah Mancuso.
June was a graduate of Long Creek community grade school and Grubbs High School. She and Noble were married Nov. 26, 1948, by Ray Rhyne, minister, at Newport. They farmed at Pitts. They were baptized together in the summer of 1960 at Cash.
Their decision was preceded by several weeks of nightly Bible study at the kitchen table. They taught themselves how to use a concordance, searching the scriptures for themselves. The rest of their lives they were zealous soul winners.
Countless afternoons and evenings found them in homes at the kitchen tables of others seeking to know God's will. They began their new life as members of the Grubbs Church of Christ where Noble later served as an elder and, in time, as their preacher.
She accompanied him in assisting numerous congregations in Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. Their last full-time ministry was with the Bono congregation.
Their interest in serving the Lord was passed on to their children; two being missionaries in The Netherlands and Brazil, and one serving as a deacon and Bible teacher.
June suffered from dementia for the last 25 years of her life. Though her cognitive capability slowly diminished, her qualities of joy, friendliness and playfulness continued unabated. Her greatest joy and investment in life were her family and her Savior.
June was "our letter from Christ" and everyone who knew her could read her. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3.

I remember June as a refreshing, continuously friendly person. It's easy to see why Susan is the same way. She will be missed. Even though she left slowly over a long period of time, the final, though temporary, farewell is the hardest.
