POCAHONTAS - Keith Allen Sutton, 60, of Pocahontas passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Keith was born Oct. 1, 1963, in Pocahontas to Perry Allen King and Ical Ann Sutton.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Allen King and Ical Ann Sutton, along with his brothers Jim (Joyce) Foster of Pocahontas and Danny (Cecelia) King of Fenton, Mo.
Keith was a lifelong resident of Pocahontas. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a full member of the Knights of Columbus. Keith owned and successfully operated Auto Efx in Pocahontas for many years.
Keith loved his Razorbacks, Cardinals and Steelers and refused to make any wager against any of them no matter what kind of season they were having. But mostly Keith was a tireless public servant. He loved people and refused to ever say "no." There are few residents of Randolph County who were not coached by Keith or who have children who were not coached by Keith because he coached pee wee football for 26 years.
Keith got his perfect job in 2019 when he was elected mayor of the city of Pocahontas. Keith finally had a job doing what he loved most in life, serving his friends.
Some of his most noticeable accomplishments are the Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex, A Riverfront Christmas, and the array of events he helped organize on the downtown square. In 2022 Keith was voted Mayor of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Chiefs for the State of Arkansas but his days were always filled with what he loved and did best, helping his friends.
Despite his dedication to his friends and job, Keith was a devoted husband and father. Keith married Stephanie, the love of his life, on June 9, 1984, and he was always as proud of his boys as a father could be.
Keith is survived by his wife, Stephanie of the home; his two sons, Bradley (Geneva) Sutton of Fayetteville and Parker (Ashten) Sutton of Pocahontas; his brother, Steve (Madonna) Foster of Pocahontas; sister-in-law, Kim (Trey) Hall of Pocahontas; mother-in-law, Irene Kerley of Pocahontas; nephews, Aidan Lamb and Rylan Lamb of Pocahontas; and niece, Darci Hall of Pocahontas.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday followed by a rosary in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Randolph County Development Center on The Black River Technical College campus with the Rev. Stephen Elser officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are as follows: Andy Allen, Stan Hovis, Alan Baltz, Don Blansett, Don Liebhaber, Trey Hall, Brent Massey, Harold Blackwell, Jamey Sullinger, Dr. Drew Dawson, Bobby Erwin and Kevin Foster.
