JONESBORO - Beloved Husband, Father, and Papaw, Larry Steve Ransone, 75, of Jonesboro, entered eternal life peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at St Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born on March 2, 1950, to Henry and Katie Ransone of Valley View.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Taylor Ransone; daughter, Kristie Ransone Silva; son, Brandon Ransone; grandchildren, Destiny Ransone Lunsford and her husband Andy Lunsford, Nicolas Silva, Haven Ransone, and Ariel Jordan; a special sister-in-law, Mary Martin who he helped raise; sisters, Francis Walker, Eunice Worlow, Patsy Watkins; and brother and sister in laws, Leland Worlow, Marcella Ransone, Gail Ransone, Peggy McBeath and her husband Gary; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmy Ransone, Don Ransone, Dale Ransone, Gale Ransone, and Curtis Roy Ransone and sisters, Earlene Brown and Jane Ransone.
A 1970 graduate of Valley View High School, Larry was vice president and treasurer of the FFA, Best Dressed, a hard worker, he farmed, worked in the grocery business, and retired from Colson Casters in 2015.
Larry was an active member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback football and basketball fan. He was always involved with his children and grandchildren, and was their biggest fans at all sporting events and school activities. He loved talking with his family daily and to be "out piddlin" with his grandchildren and coffee buddies. His favorite times were spent gardening, growing his famous home-grown tomatoes, and mowing yards, where he met and friended many. He was the caretaker of McDaniel Cemetery for more than 30 years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, at Emerson Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. with funeral to follow at 2 p.m., Brother Stan Ballard will officiate and burial will follow at McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Galen Ransone, Norman Ransone, Jeff Ransone, Roy Frazier, Andy Lunsford, Chase Morgan, and Gerardo Silva. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Ford, Jim Barber, Dwight Tosh, Jimmy Cox, Pete Yarbrough, Gary McBeath, and Jeri Ann Steinegger.
