WEINER - Martha Jean Hedge, 87, died at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025. She was born on March 24, 1938 in Fair Oaks, Ark.; the daughter of James and Jenny Houk. She graduated from Wynne High School in 1957.
On Dec. 24, 1959, she married Johnny Alton Hedge; from which union three sons were born; Ronald, Gene Alton, and Bruce Keith. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Crowley's Ridge Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Harrisburg. She was also a dual member and Past Worthy Matron of Elm Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Marked Tree. She was a member of Weiner Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Hedge (Diane) of Weiner, one grandson, Jonathan Scott Hedge of Wynne and one great granddaughter Avery Ann Hedge of Wynne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jenny Houk, two brothers Walter Houk and Leo Hauk, one sister, Annie Slocum, her husband, Johnny Alton Hedge, and two sons, Bruce Keith Hedge and Gene Alton Hedge.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, Dec. 12, at Weiner Baptist Church starting at 1 p.m. with Reverend Tommy Jacobs officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at 12 p.m. at the church. The burial will take place in Union Grove Cemetery.
Honored to serve her as pallbearers are Mike McNair, Frank Fulmer, Dennis Andrews Sr., Keith Bise, Wilburn Taylor, and Donnie Andrews. Lasting memorials may be sent to Weiner Baptist Church.
Services are under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
