WALNUT RIDGE - Grover Pat Clinton, 84, of Walnut Ridge, died at his residence on Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 2024. He was born to Claud and Helen Gardner Clinton on Nov. 30, 1939, at Brickey Hill near Lynn.
He graduated from Lynn High School in 1958 and served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1964. Pat and Carolyn Black Clinton married on May 6, 1972. They were married for 52 years and became the parents of two sons, Patrick in 1976 and Robert in 1978.
He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved to coach Patrick and Robert in the summer baseball program. He also loved to watch high school basketball and reminisce about his high school basketball days at Lynn High School.
After his service in the Army, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from Arkansas State University. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service now known as the Natural Resource Conservation Service from 1969 to 2002 retiring after 14 years as a district conservationist in Lawrence County. After retirement, Pat served as the Veterans Service Officer for Lawrence County.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his son, Patrick Clinton, his brothers, Gardner and Wayne Clinton, and his sister, Louise Wright.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Carolyn Clinton; his son, Robert Clinton, his daughter-in-law, Patrick's Stacy, his nephews, Rick Davis and David Davis, his sister-in-law, Barbara Clinton, and many friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today, Oct. 30, at the Lynn Chapel of House-Gregg Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn with Keith Marlin officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jackie Mullen, Rick Davis, Rickey Shawver, David Davis, Glen James and Roger Huskey.
