JONESBORO - Sandra Gail Barnett left this earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior in her eternal home on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at 82 years of age. Sandra was born on April 20, 1943, in Jonesboro, to Ernie D. and Dorthea Jean Gibson in Arkansas.
Sandra completed her school years at the Arkansas School for the Deaf and graduated in May of 1964. She made many lifelong friends throughout her years there.
Sandra met Doyle A. Barnett, and they married on Dec. 30, 1968.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents; brother, Gary Gibson; sister-in-law Mary Thomas; and brothers-in-law, Bobby and Jerry Barnett.
She is survived by her brother, Mark Gibson (Debbie) of Benton, sister-in-law, Carolyn Bynum of Scott, brother-in-law, Roger Barnett of Lonoke, and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved greatly.
Sandra loved doing word search books, adult coloring books, and reading the Bible, Sunday School lessons, devotionals, and other books as well. She was especially close to her brother Mark and sister-in-law Debbie, living with them after the passing of her husband, Doyle.
Sandra was a caregiver for several years, taking care of a grandmother for the last two years of her grandmother's life in 2003-2004, as well as for a good friend for a few years prior to her own health declining.
Sandra had many health issues throughout her life, but she always came through, surprising those around her.
She was a happy, sweet, and content person most of her life.
Sandra was a member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church in the later years of her life and was very loved by her church family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home with visitation held 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Keo Cemetery in England, Arkansas, at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church, 1853 Tudor Loop, Benton, Ark., 72019.
