Mark Rieb

Mark Allen Rieb, 58, of Sterling passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 6:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Tennant Funeral Home with Deacon Ron Michieli officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Mark was born in Sterling on January 2, 1957 to Robert L. and Patricia (Bodewig) Rieb. He attended Sterling school, graduating in 1975. He also attended NJC after being discharged from the Navy. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1977 until 1984 when he was honorably discharged. He served aboard several submarines and went all over the world; the Philippines, Guam, Japan, Australia, Hawaii, Florida, Connecticut, and San Diego. He was an electrician, a trade he learned while in the Navy. He loved his family and friends, playing cards, Bingo, golfing, music, and fishing. He also loved writing poetry and writing short stories. Mark was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his mother Patricia Rieb; brother David; sister Tracy Rieb; two nephews, Robert and Joel; niece Cassie, aunt Dorothy Lambrecht and 8 cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Robert, aunt Norma Jean Clevenger, aunt and uncle Helen and Leo Rieb, uncle Joe Lambrecht, 3 cousins, Tim Clevenger, Randy Lambrecht, and Pamela Erickson.
