Kurt Gatchell Marschik

Kurt Gatchell Marschik, 79, of Monticello, died Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Accolade Healthcare in Savoy, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00–11:00 AM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow immediately afterward at 11:30 AM at the Monticello Township Cemetery.

An artist and longtime auto parts manager at several local car dealerships in the community, Mr. Marschik was born March 19, 1946, in Chicago, the son of Rudolph and Marguerite (Heeren) Marschik. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; sister, Jane Dighton (Tim) Smith; father, John T. Dighton; and mother, Marguerite (Peg) Dighton.

Mr. Marschik graduated from Monticello High School in 1964. He subsequently graduated from SIU-C in 1973 with his BFA.

Mr. Marschik is survived by his children: son Chad Marschik of Springfield, IL; sons Jeff Gray of Monticello and Ryan (Heather) Gray of Normal, IL; grandchildren Quinn (Hilary) Marschik of Carrollton, TX, Riley (Emily) Marschik of Colorado Springs, CO, Jack Gray, and Elizabeth Gray, both of Normal; great-grandchildren Henry and Keeley Marschik; sister Melissa S. Dighton of Chrisman and Monticello; sister Karen (Phil) Henebry of Cincinnati, OH; brother-in-law Tim Smith of Danville; sisters-in-law Linda Mante of Monticello and Judy Waggoner of Melbourne, FL; nieces Jessica Smith Diel of St. Louis and Bridget Henebry of Columbus, OH; nephews Brian (Holly) Henebry and Patrick Henebry, both of Cincinnati, OH; along with several other cousins.
