Kenneth Max Olson, 98, of Monticello, passed away at 10:33 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Max was born on May 16, 1927, in White Heath, IL, the son of Charles and Grace (Blank) Olson. He married Marilyn Charlene Furry on May 30, 1952, in Monticello, IL.
Max is survived by his wife, Marilyn Olson of Monticello; son, Bill (Sally) Olson of White Heath; daughters, Debbie Olson of Monticello, Julia (Joe) Torres of Santa Cruz, CA, Rebecca (Dan) Olson of Scottsdale, AZ; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Eric Olson, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Max was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy and the Navy Reserve. Max was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, the Piatt County Farm Bureau, and the Piatt County Service Company. Max served as chairman on the Piatt County Board, and he also served on the School Board, the Tatman Village Board, and the Growmark Board. Max was Sangamon Township Supervisor and was President of Habitat for Humanity. Max was inducted into the Monticello High School Hall of Fame and enjoyed woodworking.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2025 at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
