Anne Robertson Obituary

Anne Krause Robertson
Anne Krause Robertson, age 89, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born in Bridgeport, she lived there for over 60 years before relocating to Manchester, Connecticut. A proud Irish Catholic, Anne was deeply devoted to her family and faith. She received her teaching degree from Southern Connecticut State University, known then as Southern Connecticut Teachers College.
Anne is survived by her eleven children: Elizabeth Vitullo, Rosemary Marcellino (Alex), Michael Robertson (Ann), Catherine Cronin (David), Christian Robertson (Maureen), Gerard Robertson (Katie), AnneMarie Robertson, Sean Robertson (Vivian), Margaret Vaughn (Matthew), Gregory Robertson (Heather) and Patrick Robertson (Adrianna). Her legacy extends to her 24 cherished grandchildren: Adrienne, Daniel, Matthew, Joseph, Caitlyn, David, Timothy, Andrew, Ciara, Brian, Gillian, Hannah, Rian, Aoife, Maeve, Tadhg, Seamus, Mabel, Marcus, Liam, Finn, Odin, Emma, and Lorelei. Anne was especially proud to receive the mother of the year award from the City of Bridgeport, an honor that reflected her devotion to her family.
Anne was married to Michael Vincent Robertson for 26 years, whom she met while both attended Southern Connecticut State University. Their story began when she stopped to help him after his car suffered a flat tire. After Michael's passing, Anne was left a widow with seven children still at home. She stepped into the workforce with determination, taking jobs at Aetna Insurance and Travelers as a claim's adjustor, where she was known for her integrity and fiscal responsibility. A master of resourcefulness, Anne stretched every dollar to support her large family, all while instilling a love for learning. She regularly took her children to the library in Bridgeport to fuel their passion for reading, a tradition that carried on to the next generation, as all her children and grandchildren pursued higher education.
A devout member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Bridgeport, Anne was a familiar face at Sunday Mass, where she regularly played the organ. After moving to Manchester, she became an active member of St. Bridget, volunteering wherever she was needed.
In retirement, Anne embraced the adventure of travel, visiting Ireland, France, England, Italy, Alaska, Disney World, and Singapore. She relished the joys of new experiences and the freedom of life on the road.
Anne's strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the memories of her children and grandchildren for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Mansfield Public Library, 54 Warrenville Road, Mansfield Center, CT 06250.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Bridget Church, 80 Main Street Manchester on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, CT. Anne's family would like to express a sincere thank you to Nora Harper-Brooks for her compassionate care of Anne.
