Charlotte Trench

Charlotte (Ludwig) Trench, 91, of Vernon and formerly of Ellington, beloved wife of 68 years to the late James M. Trench (2020), passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Born in Manchester, the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (Charter) Ludwig, she grew up and lived in Ellington for most of her life. Charlotte has fond memories of growing up on the family farm in Ellington. She enjoyed going to the beach and going on walks in the woods. She liked all animals and birds. Charlotte loved cooking,

gardening and spending time with her family. She was known for her yodeling. She was a member of the Crystal Lake Historical Society, and a longtime member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington.

Charlotte is survived by her children, James Trench III of Vernon, David Trench and his wife, Pam of Ellington, and Catherine Trench of Vernon; three grandchildren, Shannon Waxenberg of Manchester, Christopher Galat of Vernon, and Jason Ciechowski of Alaska; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Brinley Waxenberg; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Harris, Norman, Edward Jr. and Donald Ludwig; and three sisters, Grace Partelo, Hazel Johndro, and Esther Schofield.

A special thank you to Charlotte's caregivers Ilona, Agnes and especially to Dorothy and Emilia for the utmost care that they gave to her and her late husband, Jim.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, April 25, 2022,

from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83) Vernon. Funeral services will be celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
