David Cote Obituary

David "Dow" Cote
October 10, 2024
Quaker Hill, CT – David Dow Cote, 55, passed away October 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Dow was born to David and Marcia Lee Brown Cote on January 15, 1969, in South Windsor, CT. He was a 1987 graduate of Fitch Senior High School, where he was a competitive player and Co-captain of the tennis team. He graduated from Western New England College in 1991, with a BS degree in Business Finance and Economics and was Captain of the college tennis team. Dow began his career at Met Life Insurance and later joined the Geico Insurance Agency in Groton, CT.
In 2001, he joined his father's AMI manufacturing business in Mystic, as Vice President of Domestic Sales and, in 2013, he opened a State Farm Insurance office in Vernon, CT, where he was also an active member of the Business Networking International (BNI) organization.
During summer breaks from college, he worked at Abbotts Lobster and taught tennis lessons, where he met Monica Aristi, for a very special lesson that would last the next 35 years. Dow and Monica married in 1992 and have three children, Geoff, Jessica, and Samantha. They are his pride and joy. He was a devoted husband, father and family tennis coach. He loved attending their tennis and other sporting events, along with taking family vacations and visiting with Monica's family in Mexico.
Dow's interest in tennis began at the early age of ten, when he went to watch his mother take group lessons with George Crouse, the now legendary Stonington High School tennis coach. It wasn't long after that he took private lessons from George, which developed into a lifetime friendship, including Dow helping George organize matches and leagues in the region. Dow and Monica remained active tennis players in Southeastern CT, and Dow was also a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan, as well as an avid golfer.
Dow was a very kind, considerate man and a great role model for his children, family and friends. Dow is survived by his wife, Monica; son, Geoff; daughters, Jessica and Samantha; parents, David and Lee Cote; sister, Joell Aristi, and the rest of his loving extended family.
Dow's family wishes to express their love and thanks to Dow's GP and dear friends, Dr. David Schwindt and his wife Jen for all their love and caring, to both Dow and Monica, in addition to a wonderful close group of tennis friends. Dow learned to play golf from his grandparents (Tink and Link Brown) and enjoyed many golf outings with Dr. Schwindt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Tuesday, October 15, at 10:00am, located at 69 Groton Long Point Rd., Groton, CT. Interment immediately following at the Union Cemetery of Waterford, 27 Norwich Rd. (Rt. 32), Quaker Hill, CT. There are no calling hours for Dow. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. The Mystic Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I am very sorry to learn of Dow's passing. He has been a wonderful agent since I moved to the area seven years ago. He was always attentive and got back to me right away if he didn't answer the phone himself. His Thanksgiving card just arrived at our home, making his passing all the more poignant. My heartfelt condolences to family and loved ones.
