It is with great sadness that the family of David Alan Tyler announces his passing on Aug. 21, 2025 at the age of 82 in Springfield, Tennessee after a brave fight with kidney disease.
Dave was born on April 7, 1943, to Alan Tyler and Ellen Jenkins Tyler in Plainville Connecticut where he grew up on the Tyler Dairy Farm. He enjoyed showing cattle and doodle-bug tractors through the local 4-H club where he also met his future wife. He married Beverley Morell of East Windsor, Connecticut and moved to Avon, Connecticut. They had two children, Dawn and Karen. He worked at Tomasso Brothers' Construction for over 25 years before starting his own construction business, Hermitage Developers.
He became a proud member of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department in 1965. He remained an active participant and held several positions until he retired from the position of Fire Chief in 1988 after more than 23 years of service. In 1990, Dave and his wife moved to East Windsor, Connecticut. After becoming a private pilot, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (AUXAIR) in 2003 where he served for 11 years. From 1997 through 2021, he also served in various offices in the East Windsor Town Government, including the Water Pollution Control Authority, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Finance Board. He and his wife retired to Tennessee in 2020.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverley, his daughters Dawn and her husband David Morris of Houston, TX, his daughter Karen and her husband Faustino Capati of Springfield, TN, 4 grandsons: Christopher Morris, Daniel Morris, Benjamin Morris, and Alan Capati; and his sister Ellen Mary Tyler. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and many friends and relatives.
