Denise Bixby Obituary

Denise Bixby, 82, of East Windsor, died Thursday, June 7, at her home.

Denise was born in Barre, Vermont, and moved to Connecticut in 1961. She was the daughter of Josephat and Yvette (Moreau) Scalabrini. She raised her four children in Manchester before moving to East Windsor to join her companion of 40 years, Richard Ellis. Denise was a special person, loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed many card games with "the girls,' traveling, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, bingo nights and especially holidays when she knew she would be with her families.

She will be sadly missed by her four children who loved her very much, John Bixby of Washington, Tim and Peggy Bixby of Nevada, Joanne and Dale Freeman of East Hartford, and Patrick Bixby of Colchester; seven grandchildren who she adored, Shaun, Jacob, Alex, Nathan, Ricky, Elizabeth and JD; her extended family, Joe Hunt, Lisa and Dan Ouellette, Katie Hunt and Ray Jones. She also leaves her sister, Claudette Johns; a brother, Donald Scalabrini and his wife, Pat; close friends, Lisa Ellis, Susan Burns, Kenny Ellis, Judy, Roger and Kathy; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Lisette and Rita; her brother Henry; and her faithful companion, Samantha.

The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels and the Hartford Hospital Hospice Group for all of their kindness, compassion and care that they provided.

Friends and relatives may call on Friday, June 15, from 9 to 11 a.m., concluding with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo- East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford.
