Dennis Babcock Obituary
Dennis was born March 5, 1940, in Albany, New York, son of the late George and Ruth Babcock. He moved to Connecticut in 1960 to pursue a career of 37 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after an honorable discharge from the Navy. He loved life and lived it fully as a caring and compassionate man with a deep love for his family and friends.
He leaves two blessed daughters and their husbands, Denise and Chris Pape, of Somers, and Melissa and Brian Donor, of Enfield; four cherished grandchildren, Carissa and Cameron Pape and Rebecca and Joshua Donor; siblings Janice and Eugene Winters, Sharon Dambrosio, Gail and Peter Bullock, Marcia and Rudy Blakesley, and George and Carol Babcock, sister-in-law Dawn Cary; and many nieces and nephews. Dennis is predeceased by his loving in-laws, Reid and Jeanette Cary; and his brother-in law, Eugene Cary.
He was an active member of the church family at Hazardville United Methodist Church. Dennis served as member of the Enfield Fire Department from 1972 to 1981, and was elected as a fire commissioner for the last 18 years. He has been faithfully serving our veterans as an advocate for the Disabled American Veterans. He joined the DAV Enfield Chapter 52 in 1995, he was appointed commander shortly thereafter and remained so until present. From 2008-2009 he was commander for the state of Connecticut DAV, and a member of the Veterans Council of Enfield, Amvets Post 18 of Enfield, American Legion Post 0114 Ravena, New York, and an honorary member of Veterans Who Care. In 2012, Dennis received the prestigious Patriot Award in Enfield, for which he was very proud and honored.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family Thursday, Oct. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
A funeral service in celebration of Dennis's life will be held on Friday, Oct. 2 at noon at Hazardville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New York.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hazardville United Methodist Church, Elevator Fund, 330 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082.

Dennis was my foreman at P&W sometime back in the mid 70's. Dennis was the type of guy that was easy to like and talk to. We worked in department 342 (VTL, Disk and Hub turning). We had a great group of guys and Dennis just added to that group. In fact, we had a P&W Aircraft softball team and Dennis was on the team (Disc Jockeys) with us. We usually played on Friday evenings and we (the team) would hang around and drink beer shoot the crap. Dennis was one of the guys even though he was our boss. I liked Dennis a lot. A lot of fond memories with him in it.
