Dennis Slater Obituary

Dennis F. Slater, 56, of Broad Brook, beloved husband of over 36 years to Denise (Lavoie) Slater, died suddenly on Friday, July 22. Born in Hartford, the son of Howard O. He also held the position of chairman of the board of directors, parade chairman, Ladies Night chairman and served on many truck committees. Dennis and the Slater family has provided operational support for many years to the annual Wapping Fair doodlebug pull and beyond. His countless hours of volunteering are unmatched. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, and his father, Dennis is survived by his daughters, Rochelle Slater and her partner Aaron Helmer of Casa Grande, Arizona;, Paige Slater and her husband Eugene Donaldson of Broad Brook, and Melody Slater and her partner Adam Steiger of Maricopa, Arizona; his five grandchildren, Dalton Slater, Gavin and Kinsley Donaldson, and Mia and Sadie Helmer; his brother, Howard E. We were in shock and deep sorrow to hear about Dennis. I knew Dennis for years from working in the S.Windsor area, also for working with J&H Slater Co. He was multi-talented and quick to give a helping hand if needed. My deepest sympathy to the family. Norman Hill, Friendship,ME.
