Doris Millstein Obituary

Doris (Danuff) Millstein, 91, of Manchester, formerly of Yonkers, New York, beloved wife of the late Sam Millstein, died on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at the Hebrew Home & Hospital in West Hartford, after a long and courageous struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Doris was born on Aug. 18, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Meyer and Lena Danuff. Doris grew up in the Bronx, New York and graduated from Taft High School. She was married to the love of her life, Sam Millstein, on Jan. 9, 1949, living in Brooklyn before moving to Yonkers, where she lived for over 50 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother, always providing for her family. After her children were grown, she proudly worked as a claims specialist with The Travelers Insurance Co. for many years. Doris was a woman with a big heart and beautiful spirit accepting of all and friends with many. She enjoyed every moment she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

She leaves her daughter, Eileen Clouser and her husband, Douglas, of South Windsor; her son, Neil Millstein and his wife, Barbara, of Mount Vernon, New York; her grandchildren, Seth Clouser and his wife Lori, Chase Clouser and his wife, Laura, Scott Clouser, Stuart Millstein, and Michael Millstein; and her great-grandson, Ryan Clouser.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the medical staff and caregivers at the Hebrew Home, 3 North, for their kindness and compassion.

A graveside service was held today at Wellwood Cemetery in Wyandanch, New York.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047, or

Her family will sit Shiva at the home of Eileen and Douglas Clouser on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 10, evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.
