Frank Katkauskas Obituary
Frank and Mary had just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Nov. 26, 2011. He was born on May 11, 1918, in Manchester, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Karauskas) Katkauskas. He attended local schools and had been a lifelong resident. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II. He was member of the 22nd Infantry 4th Division, having served in Germany, France, and England. Frank was awarded the Purple Heart and the Connecticut Wartime Veterans Service Medal. Prior to his retirement in 1984 he was employed as a Tool & Dye Maker with United Tool & Dye in West Hartford for over 48 years. Frank was a life member of the Army & Navy Club in Manchester. He was an avid gardener and was well known for his tomatoes and raising turkeys, which he sold for many years. Frank was a longtime Communicant of Church of the Assumption in Manchester.
Besides his beloved Mary, he leaves his two children, Frank L. Katkauskas of Higganum and Marilyn Harvey of Manchester; two loving grandchildren, Timothy Katkauskas, and his wife, Deana, of Meriden and Susan LeDuc, and her husband, T.J., of Moodus; three great-grandchildren, Kellie Katkauskas, Josh Hill, and Zachary LeDuc; two sisters-in-law, Frances Katkauskas of Manchester and Josephine McGee of Barre, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister, Adell Katkauskas; and his brother Adolph Katkauskas.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, 29 S. Adams St., Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Calling hours will be today, Dec. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
