Frederick Kotowski Obituary

Frederick Thomas Kotowski
Frederick Thomas Kotowski, 89, of Windsor, beloved husband for 57 years of the late Sally J. (Garrity) Kotowski, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at his home. Born in Suffield, CT on June 23, 1936, son of the late William and Leona (Beneski) Kotowski, he was raised in West Suffield and was a graduate of Suffield High School, Class of 1954. After high school, Fred served in the US Navy as an Aviation Storekeeper at the end of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in June 1958.
Fred returned to Connecticut and took a position with Kaman Corporation where he worked for 23 years as a supply clerk supporting the US Navy H-2 Seasprite helicopter. He also worked for 12 years at Konica Minolta in Windsor until his retirement in 2004. He later worked for the Windsor Public Library and Suffield Public Schools in maintenance. He lived for the past 40 years in Windsor.
Fred in his younger years enjoyed motorcycle riding and snowmobiling. He enjoyed watching all sports. He was a Springfield Indians season ticket holder when they played hockey in the Eastern States Coliseum. He regularly attended stock car races at Riverside Raceway and enjoyed NASCAR. He supported local teams, especially the Red Sox, Bruins and UConn Men's Basketball, but was also a fan of the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies and Duke University Blue Devils Men's Basketball. Fred and his family took memorable vacations to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. More recently in his spare time he regularly participated in Senior Center events and trips. He played Bingo several times a week. Fred was very proud to be a US Navy Veteran. He enjoyed attending the Veterans breakfasts at the Suffield VFW and was proud to have his name on the Suffield Veterans Memorial. One of his most memorial life experiences was participating in a Honor Flight Connecticut Veterans trip to Washington, DC.
He leaves a daughter, Carol A. Kotowski of Huntingdon Valley, PA; a sister, Florence Eheander of Suffield; a sister-law Joan Ferreira of Suffield; and many Kotowski and Garrity nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Michael J. Kotowski; his in-laws Vernon and Margaret Garrity; a brother, Frank W. Kotowski; brothers-in-law, Ernest Eheander, Robert Cotton and Buck Garrity; sister-in-law Jean Cotton and a niece, Sandy Miller. In addition to his family Fred leaves his caretaker and friend Llewellyn Weaver whose assistance and companionship were invaluable to Fred and his family.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Granby Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
