Frederick George Sullivan

Frederick George Sullivan, 85, of Suffield, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital.

Fred was born in Boston, Massachusetts on Aug. 13, 1935, to father Frederick Sullivan of Boston, and mother Barbara Grealish Sullivan of Galway, Ireland.

Fred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claire Arment Sullivan. He is also survived by his three children, daughter Julie Martin and her husband, Wellesley of East Granby, son Frederick Sullivan and his wife, Kelly of Fairfield, and son Patrick and his wife, Kathleen of Fairfield. He leaves behind two granddaughters, Sarah and Payton, and three grandsons, Cooper, Charlie and Griffin. Fred is also survived by his two brothers, John Sullivan and his wife, Diane of Florida and Paul Sullivan of Virginia.

An Honorably Discharged Korean War era veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Fred was also a proud graduate of Boston College, Class of 1961. Fred had an extensive insurance career as the owner of the Principal Financial Group insurance agency in Suffield, was a former vice-president of Fireman's Fund Insurance, was a regional vice-president of Continental American Life and was a sales representative for John Hancock Life Insurance. Fred was a longtime resident of Suffield and a member of Sacred Heart Church. Fred was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and Hartford Whalers fan. He enjoyed playing golf and he was an active member of Suffield Country Club for many years. Above all, Fred loved his wife, children and grandchildren and he will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 460 Mountain Road, Suffield. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lee, and Massachusetts.
