George Turcotte Obituary

George Payne Turcotte passed away on July 6, 2023, with his family by his side. George was a kind and decent human being, a wonderful father, substitute father figure to extended family and mentor for young people brought into his business. George graduated from Springfield College and served in the U. S. Coast Guard 1963-1965. After working in the insurance industry for some years, he entered the family insurance agency in 1973, continuing the business established in 1893, and seeing it grow and flourish under his leadership until his retirement in 2012. The Geo. E. Payne & Son,Inc/Bayide Agency continues to this day under the ownership of an employee he mentored since her high school days. He was a faithful member and supporter of Second Congregational Church in Coventry, cooking many Church dinners and organizing food and drink at highway rest stops.
George leaves behind his wife of 54 years Anne Turcotte, his daughter Michelle (Lance) Heimall, his goddaughter Brittney (Cory) Giordano, his grandniece Adrianna Giordano, Leete family cousins, and brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews in the extended Askew family clan.
George was predeceased by his parents Doris Payne Turcotte and Frank Turcotte, his beloved granddaughter Emalyn Doris Heimall, his cousin and lifetime friend Carol Martling Leete, his sister-in-law Alison Conant and nephew Michael Askew.

Dear Anne, Michelle and family,

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences for your loss! George was a wonderful man and his presence, along with Cliff´s, will be greatly missed, especially around the families Thanksgiving table, where we shared many conversations! His journey on earth has been completed and his reward is now "Well done, my good and faithful servant"! (Matthew 25:21) May the Lord give all of you His love to uphold you, His peace to embrace you and His comfort to sustain you, during this difficult time of grief and loss.

With my deepest sympathy,
Veronica
