Hazel Connor Obituary

Hazel Aborn Connor, 95, died May 17, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.

She was born March 4, 1918, in West Hartford to Robert W Aborn and Lillian Beaverstock Aborn. She lived from the age of 3 on the Aborn family farm in Ellington until her marriage. She was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Upon graduating from Rockville High School, Hazel was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where she retired after many years. She was a member of Ellington Congregational Church until she moved to Manchester, where she joined the Center Congregational Church in the 1960s.

Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1977. She is survived by her son, Robert of Manchester; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Hampton Aborn of Ellington; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Robert, Emerson, and Sherwood and sisters Grace A. Keller and Shirley A. Townsend.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 7, 2013, for a graveside internment ceremony at the Ellington Cemetery, followed by the memorial service at the Ellington Congregational Church.

The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service at a luncheon in the church's Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Hazel to the Ellington Congregational Church, Ellington, CT 06029.
