Hermance "Hermie" M. Marquis, 88, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021.
She was the beloved wife of 48 years to the late Ronald Marquis. Born on April 25, 1933 in Grand Isle, Maine, a loving daughter of the late Lewis and Marie (Michaud) Gorneau, she had resided in Enfield since 1959. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Hermie dedicated her life to caring for her loving family and home. She along with her husband owned and operated Marquis Garage in the Scitico section of Enfield for many years. She was a member of St. Martha Church, in her leisure time she enjoyed bowling, she had a love for racing and was a huge supporter of her son Jerry's racing career, and cherished time spent with family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, Jerry Marquis and wife, Karen of Broad Brook, Nancy Dighello and husband, Lewis of Enfield, Judy Kozikowski and Eugene of Berlin, and David Marquis and wife, Laurie of Florida; her nine beloved grandchildren, Shawn, Kristen, Ashley, Chelsea, Jason, Jennifer, Justin, Mark and Sheena; and 21 adored great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her siblings, Alice Morin of Maine, Edgar Gorneau, of Westbrook, Jeannine Corriveau of Plainville, Gerard Gorneau of Florida, Gisele Chamberland of Maine; along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson Chris; and siblings, Donald, Norman Jr., and Herbert Gorneau, Nancy Manz, Patsy Pelletier, and Tony Beaupre.
Relative and friends may gather with the family on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Browne Memorial Chapels in Enfield.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, with a prayer service at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by interment in the Hazardville Cemetery.
