We will miss Tom and his Laid Back Humor. I Performed with Tom in the Top Brass Orchestra for about ten years.

I had the pleasure of being Tom's colleague in the CBT law department in the early 70s. He was an excellent lawyer and a really great guy. Always a musician, Tom had a sign on his office door - "Bach at 1:30, Offenbach at 1:00." He had a wicked sense of humor. I remember when he built a wooden "dignity meter" as a response to a suggestion that we were, on occasion, "not dignified enough."
Requiescat in pace, Tom

Tom was my boss when we both worked in the Legal Dept of CBT. I did a lot of his Air Force and music documentation. A lot of years have past but I remember Tom fondly. My sympathy to his family.

Tom was a gentleman and a scholar. He had strong principles and he stood by them. The world is a lesser place now that he has passed.

Tom and I traveled together extensively via Vermont Transit some 50 years ago as members of the SMC Glee Club. I was deeply saddened to hear another member from the Class of '64 will not make our 50th reunion. But I know that Tom is singing now in God's choir and will be looking down on us all next year.

I visited Tom during his last illness at the hospital, the rehabilitation center, and his home. On none of those occasions do I recall Tom complaining. That is not to say I, or anyone for that matter, was not told by Tom about his situation, but it was like a medical briefing, delivered in great detail, in classic Johnsonian style – calm, measured, precise and sarcastically witty. To be sure there are a great number of things for which Tom will be remembered, but for me - the classic Johnsonian style - will be near the top. Tom McHale, St Michael's College, Class of '64.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Tom's death, but know that he is in a better place. I have known him since our Freshman year at SMC and always enjoyed talking to him at reunions and to hear from him on the Class of '64 email listing. He will be missed.

I met Tom exactly 53 years ago as we started out as Freshmen at St. Michaels. Both of us were Mathematics majors, roomed together for several years and paired up on the Debate Team, even defeating Harvard once! And, we spent plenty of time at the Mill discussing the philosophy of life. Our friendship became life-long. In recent years Ellen and I had the good fortune to travel with Tom and Pam all over Central Europe, Ireland, Italy (just last October for a glorious week) and Barbados.
My great friend, we will miss your sharp mind and wonderful sense of humor. May God grant you eternal peace.

Our class of St. Michael's College, 1964, has lost a valued member. I knew Tom well in college but didn't realize how extensive his distinguished military career was until reading the obituary. My condolences to the family.

We were "music friends" for many years in Vernon where Tom composed and arranged music for Sacred Heart Church and the Contemporary Music Group. May the Lord receive Tom with loving arms.
