Joan L. Botellio, 84, of Somers, CT, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, May 20, 2024. She was born on October 25, 1939 in Rockland, Maine to William and Marian (Teel) Main. Joan graduated from New Bedford High School, class of 1957. As fate would have it, Joan met Jim at YWCA New Years dance, and she and James married on April 4, 1959. They were married for 65 wonderful years. Moving to CT in June of 1959, she and Jim eventually moved to Somers, CT and raised their family. What her family will remember the most about her was her passion for painting, love for music, great sense of humor, especially her occasional witty satirical remarks. More recently, Jim remembers all too well all the packages that came from her days of shopping on QVC and the Home Shopping Network. She and her family were communicants of St. Mary Episcopal Church which is now Holy Trinity Church in the Hazardville section of Enfield, CT. Most of all, Joan was a loving wife and mother and cared deeply about her family.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, James A. Botellio; her children, Karen Garvey and her husband Brian of Somers, Steven Botellio and his wife Theresa of Somers, and Joanne Tolisano and her husband Joseph of Somers. She spent many years helping to raise her 5 grandchildren, Jason Fitzpatrick and his wife Erica, Christopher Tolisano, Tyler Tolisano and Michael Tolisano who all were a great joy to her. Her most recent delight was her new great-grandchild Cillian. She was predeceased by her son, James D. Botellio; grandson, Thomas Fitzpatrick; and sister, Joyce Harrison as well as a loving member of the family, Uncle Armand Boucher.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, CT, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 12:45 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after at Somers Center Cemetery, Battle St., Somers, CT.
