John Hamel Obituary
John was born Oct. 20, 1958 in Springfield, Mass., son of the late Albert W. Hamel and Yvonne (St. Hilaire) Hamel of Windsor Locks. John was a resident of East Windsor for over 20 years and was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family especially his nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother, Yvonne, John is survived by a brother, Lionel "Lee" Hamel and his wife, Sandra, of East Windsor; a sister, Jeanne Johnson and her companion, Tommy Prestwich, of Windsor Locks; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Albert P. and Ronald C. and Anna L. Hamel.
John's family will receive relatives and friends at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A celebration of John's life will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.

Words cannot express the deep loss everyone will experience by losing John. I can only say that the world is minus one of the most special people I have ever known. Every time I saw John, it was like we had never been apart through the many years in between. I truly can say that I loved him. It's been over 30 years now since graduation but John left lasting impressions of the love he shared. My deepest condolences to the entire family.

I was very sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of being a friend of John's and I know what a big heart he had. He was loyal and sincere. He helped me at a difficult period in my life. I pray that the family will be comforted by the fact that John will be remembered well and will truly be missed.

My deepest Sympathy to John's family. John you have been like a big brother to me and have taught me many things. I seen the caring side that you had and what you were willing to do for others. You had a big heart and cared deeply for others and would do what you could to be there for them! I will miss you buddy and I love you! God Bless!
