John Henry Mooney, 90, of Enfield, widower of Catherine (Lajoie) Mooney, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at Renaissance Manor in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Born and raised in Springfield, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Gadair) Mooney. Enlisting in the U.S. Army, he served honorably as a Korean War veteran. A resident of Enfield for most of his life, John retired from Hamilton Standard after 25-plus years with the company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Enfield. More than anything, he enjoyed smoking his favorite cigars.

He is survived by two sons, John Mooney and Dennis Mooney both of Enfield; one sister, Peggy Fontaine of Chicopee, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a sister Rose Mooney.

Visitation hours will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, followed by a procession to Holy Family Church, Enfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Committal will follow at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.
