John Scully Obituary

John Scully
John Scully, 96, of East Windsor, Connecticut, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 25, 1929, John lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, John proudly served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict before dedicating his career to Pratt & Whitney, where he worked for 36 years until his retirement. Known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering commitment to his family, John had a great sense of humor and a gift for making people smile. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret Scully, with whom he shared an extraordinary 73 years, 11 months, and one day of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and family. He is survived by his children: Linda Stevens of Wells, Maine; Michael and Carolyn Scully of East Windsor; William and Robyn Scully of Windsor Locks; and Robert and Denise Scully of Estero, Florida. John was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Joe, Rita, Michael Shawn, Megan, Maureen, Patrick, Matthew, Bobbie J, Jenna, John Paul, and Tara Lynn, and seven great-grandchildren: Brooke, Brielle, Aubrey, James, Creed, Noble, and Thomas, all of whom brought him immense joy. John was predeceased by two sisters, Marlene Peichert and Marion Hyland, and a son-in-law, Lorne Stevens.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 20, 2025, at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 20 North St., Enfield. Committal with military honors will follow at Scantic Cemetery in East Windsor. The family asks that you enjoy an extra scoop of your favorite ice cream-his favorite treat-in John's honor, and share a laugh with someone you love. Dear Margaret and family, I was saddened by the news of John's passing. How I enjoyed seeing him and sharing a conversation when you both came into the Senior Center. He had a kind way about him and a wonderful smile.
