To Joe Dent's family:
It's been two weeks, and it's still hard for the fellows in the VFW and American Legion to realize that he's gone. We are proud to have known him, and we were glad to honor him at last month's Veterans Day breakfast as Hebron's first Veteran of the Year. May he rest in peace.

Dear Tory -
Thank you so much for calling me last night to let me know of your Dad's passing. Although I am sorry for your loss, I know that he is at peace after a long struggle - a struggle that you and your family have endured for a long time. The love, dedication, humor and advocacy that you showed him over the years is something you should be very proud of - I am here if you need a shoulder to lean on - and I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas.

To the Dent family, Joe was a very good friend from our MDC times together and our mutual love of horses. I remember the time he lent me his saddle when he got hurt riding the bucking car at the rodeo. He is now riding the horses on the other side of the rainbow bridge. God Bless. Richard Hayes

To The Dent Family,
I had the great pleasure to work with Joe at the MDC. I was a young engineer and Joe was the old pro. He was a very dedicated, hard working, no nonsense guy...well respected by all that knew him. Joe..thanks for all you did for the MDC and me personally. May God bless you at the ranch in Heaven

Mr. Dent was a weekly visitor to our flower shop. As we became better acquainted we always enjoyed his stories about his life adventures. He was very proud of his military service, of his fellow soldiers at the American Legion and of his brother who lost his life in the war. It was clear that he loved his family. He was a colorful character,a caring man,a proud American. It was my honor and pleasure to have known him. Mary Forsyth (Amston)

I will miss my old friend of sixty nine years - We played shows and laughed a lot - Smoky was a real cowboy - Will Rogers said he never met a man he didn't like - I never met anyone who didn't like Smoky-Bill Flagg

To The Dent Family,
There are no words to convey our sympathy at the loss of your father/husband. We absolutely loved him. He was the kindest, sweetest man to my father and my family during our hard time in the past. My heart is broken at the news but I am sure he is already in Heaven just as he should be.
