Joseph Schweitzer Obituary

Joseph F. "Joey" Schweitzer, 15, of East Windsor, passed away December 11, 2008, at the Connecticut Children's Hospital in Hartford.

He was born March 26, 1993, in Hartford. Joey was a freshman at East Windsor High School. Joey was a loving and thoughtful son, brother, grandson, and friend. He loved life and all the adventure he could discover including camping, riding his bike, skateboarding, fox racing, music, skiing, and basketball. He had strong dreams, hopes, and desires for himself and those around him. He aspired to be a Rock Star so he could share his love of music with all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, Odell and Eleanor (DeBarge) Shirley of East Windsor; his sister, Crystal Schweitzer of East Windsor; two brothers Shawn Muldoon of East Windsor and Jeff Muldoon of Enfield; a nephew, Joey Muldoon of East Windsor; two step-sisters, Heidi Davis of Texas and Holly Red of Las Vegas, Nev.; two step-brothers, Steven Shirley of Texas and James Shirley of Iowa; paternal grandfather, Joseph Schweitzer of Suffield; and maternal grandmother, Pearl DeBarge of Somers; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, December 16, 2008, by 9 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Interment will be private.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Joseph F. Schweitzer Memorial Fund, Webster Bank, 637 Main Street, Somers, CT 06071.

My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I remember when we first moved to Enfield that Jeff would bring Joey (and Crystal) over to my house to play on the swings. I also drove his bus a few times in EW. Joey was a really good kid, and will be missed very much

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Joey and all your friends and family associated with you, I would like to extend my warmest thoughts and prayers to his family as Joey will be sadly missed by everyones lives he touched. He was so sweet and had lived a life that was only beginning and to have him taken will give us all sorrow for a long time. Your family has had such a loss with Gram's passing, but maybe we can all find solace in knowing you two are up in heaven playing bingo together, god bless you Joey & Gram.

Eleanor and family: brian and i are so sorry to hear about joey's passing. i know that it wont be easy to go on with your normal day to day activities knowing he wont be there anymore. just remember that god takes our loved ones from us for a reason, they will serve a greater purpose with god as an angel to look over us in our darkest days. we planned to come to the wake but amanda became sick and thought it was best to keep everyone else from catching it too. our deepest sympathy to all of you! love always your god daughter.
