Karen Bartlett Obituary

Karen Lee (Beyer) Bartlett, 63, of Enfield, widow of Andrew A. Bartlett, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at her home.

She was born in Hartford, the daughter of Arthur A. Beyer and Nadia (Begansky) Beyer. Karen was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked as a clerk. Karen's greatest joy was boating with her husband, Andrew. She also loved to paint.

She leaves behind two daughters, Premila Dugan of Dunn, N.C., and Theresa Gerhart and her husband, Rolland of Hardwick, Vt.; three sisters, Sandy Monihan and her husband, Richard, of Old Lyme, Suzanne Heim of Punta Gorda, Fla., Donna Gendreau and her husband, Rene, of Windsor Locks; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 18, at 1 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. just prior to the service.

Those wishing may make donations to the NEAG Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Foundation, 10 Talcott Notch Road, Suite 100, Farmington, CT 06032.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Karen's family. Karen was known as "Smiley" to my family because of the unique signature she used on all of her cards and notes, and she sent many of them. She was one of my dearest friends and a wonderful person to know. She will be truly missed.
