Leontine "Peggy" H. Niznik, 95, of Manchester, beloved wife of Joseph Niznik, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late David and Leontine Plantier Heatley.
Peggy's light shone so bright and touched the lives of everyone she met. She was the most caring and compassionate woman, not to mention a bit sarcastic. She loved her family and friends fiercely, demonstrated by her excited screams as she saw them walk through her door. Peg will be remembered for being a firecracker, as well as for her love of all children. There wasn't a child whom she encountered that she didn't immediately fall in love with. Peggy was a lifelong member of Center Congregational Church, she loved to swim and sunbathe at the beach, and she was always cooking and baking. No one ever left her house hungry, as she would have homemade appetizers, spaghetti sauce, and cookies in her freezer, ready to serve at a moment's notice.
She leaves behind her husband Joseph, children Thomas Waldo of Manchester, daughter-in-law Wendy Waldo, grandchildren Tennille Waldo, Tracey Waldo Brown and her husband Rick, and Jason Pinney; great-grandchildren Bo and Drew, her sister Sally Marte of Block Island, RI, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Steven Waldo, brothers David and Tommy and sisters Elsie and Jackie.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
