Marie Ange Cyr

1934 - 2021

Marie Ange (Marquis) Cyr, 87, of South Windsor died peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her children.

She was born in St. Agatha, Maine, on March 30, 1934, daughter to the late Alfred "Fred" and Melina (Collin) Marquis. She grew up in Sinclair, Maine. Marie married Armand Cyr in 1954 and together they moved to South Windsor in 1958 after following opportunities for work in Connecticut. She worked as an electronic assembler at Hamilton Standard for many years. Marie enjoyed her roses, growing and preserving heirloom tomatoes from seed, tending her garden, playing Charlemagne, and caring for her beloved cat Mabel. A kind, caring, loving, and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Debra Morrison and her husband, James, of South Windsor, Russell Cyr and his wife, Mona, of Enfield, and Raymond Cyr and his partner, Alex Trayford, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; sisters Theresa Gagnon of Caribou, Maine, and Marie Mae Pelletier and her husband, Ludger, of East Hartford; sister-in-law Esther Angeloni of Sacramento, California and brother-in-law Ronald Cyr of South Windsor; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Morrison and his wife, Katherine, of Columbia, Amanda Garner and her husband, Michael, of Simsbury, and Kaitlyn Cyr and her fiancé, Michael Williams, of Bethel, Maine; and her great grandchildren, Jaymeson Morrison, Kolton Morrison, Garrett Morrison, Jack Garner, and Norah Garner. She was predeceased by her siblings Armance Albert, Jeannine Paradis, Alandine Brochu, Corine Cyr, Clara Bouchard, Lucille Albert, Geraldine Hebert, Louis Marquis, Adrien Marquis, and Norman Marquis.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 5-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 993 Main St., South Windsor. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor.
