Marilynn Louise Bailey

1937 - 2021

Marilynn Louise (Beck) Bailey, 84, of Longmeadow, beloved wife of Leon W. Bailey, passed peacefully on Feb. 1, 2021.

Born in Gray, Maine on Jan. 3, 1937, daughter of the late Oswald T. and Lois (Brown) Beck. Marilynn attended Averett Jr. College and received her Bachelor of Arts in fashion design from Richmond Professional Institute. She worked in many retail venues and always enjoyed helping shoppers find just the right item. She retired from Johnson's Bookstore in Springfield as the children's book manager, a job that she dearly loved. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Springfield. She enjoyed knitting and sewing; breeding and raising AKC Champion Weimaraner pups; participated in many activities and committees with Daughters of the Nile; socializing with her Chicken Sisters; vacations in Martha's Vineyard and Maine, which always included lobster and clam dinners with family.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Leon W. Bailey of Longmeadow; five children, son Dr. Scott Bailey (Amey Bailey) of Plymouth, New Hampshire; Todd Bailey (Rev. Diann Bailey) of Granby; Sheryl Bailey (Joe Blajda) of Manchester, New Hampshire; Leann Soderberg (Dana Soderberg) of Yarmouth Port and Glen Bailey (Gina Bailey) of Oxford, Alabama; 11 grandchildren, Benjamin Bailey, Nathaniel Bailey, Savannah Bailey, Rosa Bailey, Linnea Soderberg, Bailey Soderberg, Dakota Garcia, Cheyenne Bailey, Boston Bailey, Athens Bailey, Zeeland Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Otis and Myra Bailey. She was predeceased by her brother, John Beck.

The funeral services will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, Suffield, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Shriner's Hospital for Children or Trinity United Church, Springfield.
