Marjorie Lotas Obituary

Marjorie Aurel Lotas, 95, of Talcottville, passed away on Jan. 15, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born on March 30, 1927, she was a lifelong resident of Vernon and grew up on Briar Knoll farm with five siblings. Marge was proud of her Thrall heritage and the richness of farm life. She managed to find time to enjoy her many interests and skills, such as being an avid reader, a master quilter, a New York Times crossword puzzle solver, (including Sunday Times cryptogram) and a treasure hunter of buried antique bottles, enjoyed by both she and her daughter Susan. Her legacy though, was her kind, generous heart, which she shared with her entire family. We will miss her wisdom and her persistent, unwavering interest and support to each and every one of us. We all cherished her good nature, common sense, and the value of hard work.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Lillian Thrall; her brothers, Wallace, Bill and Charlie Thrall; and her sister Barbara Hambach. She is survived by her sister Marion Stearns of Scotland, Conn., along with many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her five children, John of Manchester, Eric (Nancy) of Vernon, Thomas (Kimberly) of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Susan of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Gregory of Brooklyn New York; also her eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was particularly proud and thankful to her son Eric, who in her later years, relied on his generosity of time, attention, and watchful eye.

Services will be private and held at a later date.

Donations made in her memory may be sent to The Vernon Historical Society.
