Rachel Shepard Obituary
Born in Hartford, she grew up and lived in Vernon for most of her life before moving to Manchester five years ago. She was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 2000. She was very outgoing and loved to talk to everyone. Rachel liked scary movies, Halloween, Hello Kitty, jewelry and Rosary Beads. She enjoyed making crafts with her mother and sister. Rachel loved all animals, especially dogs and frogs.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Ashley Shepard, of Vernon; her paternal grandparents, Barry and Barbara Shepard, of Tavares, Florida; her uncle, Butch Plude and his wife, Lorry; her aunts, Darlene Bauer and her husband, Fred, Cathy Mott, Lori Wentworth and her husband, Dave, Stacie Fluckiger and her husband, Mark, and Elaine Plude; a great-aunt, Pam Taylor and her husband, George; her cousins, Valerie, Chris, Sean, Zack, Josh, Justin, and Lindsay; and her close friends, Becky, Jordyn and Clara; and her best friends and companions, her family, Peanut, Mugsey, and Ginger. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Warren and Alice Plude.
The family would like to thank the Community Health Resources, Monika Wojtak, and a special thank-you to Cheri Hitchcock and Amanda Paugas from Interim Health and Caregivers of Connecticut.
Her family will receive friends for memorial calling hours Saturday, June 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.

I worked with Rachel at Kmart years ago. Didn't know until now that she passed. I haven't seen her in a few years and thought about her the other day. She was a really good person with an infectious personality. Miss her bear hugs. So sorry for your loss...

Rachel: You were a delight to work with all these years! You will always have a special place in my memories!
Shepard family: I know Rachel had her struggles, but I always looked forward to visiting with her. Your support as a family, made my job easier. Rachel talked about her family frequently.
