Rafe Maccarone Obituary
Rafe was a sophomore at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School where he was a member of the Minutemen varsity soccer team. Rafe was selected as honorable mention for the 2007 All-Space Coast Boys Soccer Team after his freshman year. He was a member of the Brevard F.C.U-16 Boys State Cup team and was a member of Church of our Saviour. His love of competitive soccer was very special to him. He will be missed by all his teammates, coaches and friends. BEACH PRIDE!!!
He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Valerie Maccarone of Merritt Island, Fla.; sisters, Jaime Maccarone of Rockledge, Fla., and Toni Maccarone of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; grandparents, Jane and Ralph Maccarone of Viera, Fla., and Anthony Tomanio of Sebring, Fla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Church of Our Saviour Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rafe Maccarone/CBHS Soccer Scholarship, 1500 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931.

What a beautiful sunrise on Tuesday. It was so moving to see many of your friends gather to share their memories of you. I just read a beautiful poem lately which came to mind when I was watching the sun rise over the beautiful ocean.
When somebody dies. . . they never really go away
They put the sun to bed, wake up the grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the daytime when they're supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing wind-songs, they whisper to us, "Don't miss me too much. The view is nice, and I'm doing just fine."
We do miss you each day, but we also see you every day in the beauty around us.

today marks the 10 month anniversary and i cant express to you how much our lives have been changed. Every day i go to school, i think about him. Everywhere i look things remind me of him. His memories live on through each and every one of us. He was loved by all of us and every game this year will be played for him. We will never forget him, he will always be in our hearts.
Everyday at school someone is wearing a shirt or something they made. we all miss him so much.

Dear Rafes' Family and friends,
God's richest blessings to you and your loved ones. This is a tragedy that we ourselves are painfully familiar with; our daughter Emily Ranyak also attended CBHS and loved Soccer. She was killed suddenly in a car crash just before her graduation 04-02-05. My husband saw a car-window sticker in memory of Rafe, at the same time my son saw a double rainbow, which always reminds us of our precious Emily. This week we will be remembering our daughter's 3rd year since she left us and we will be keeping you in our prayers also.

I have fond memories of Rafe sitting in the front row of my classroom feigning interest in Orwell, Twain, or Shakespeare while adding his perspective and humor. I am the pediatric cardiologist who cared for Rafe after his transfer to Arnold Palmer Hospital following his collapse. I can only imagine the pain that Rafe's family is going through, and I am so very sorry that there was not more that I could do to help him. This is a true tragedy, and I can tell from his parents, family, and friends that Rafe was a wonderful young man. I wish I could have known him personally, and I wish there was something I could say that would help. He is constantly in my thoughts.

To the Maccarone family,
I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are feeling. But I can tell you that the students at Cocoa Beach and the Academy are completely shocked and devastated.
