Richard Cioto Obituary
Born in Hartford, the son of the late Nicholas and Evelyn (Pulver) Cioto, he grew up and lived in Hartford and East Hartford before moving to Vernon in 1973. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement in 2004, Richard was a custodian in the South Windsor school system for several years. He was previously employed by the Aetna Insurance Co. for many years. He was a member of the New River Community Church in Manchester. Richard was an avid woodcarver, and was a member of the Mystic Carvers Club and of the American Legion Post 14, Vernon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Sabine Cioto of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Marc Cioto and his wife, Jennifer, of Spring Hill, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ashley, Alexandra, Anthony, Kathy, Isabella, and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Nicholas, John, and Joseph Cioto.
His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at New River Community Church, 314 Woodbridge St., Manchester.
A memorial service will be celebrated at the New River Community Church on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 3 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to Operation Homefront, 1355 Central Parkway South, Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78232.

I knew Rich from as far back as Holy Trinity High School. I graduated w/ his older brother Nick. We later reconnected when Rich worked at Aetna & for the past 3 - 4 years would get together & discuss ole times & what we were doing. I knew he had a Passion for Wood Carving. He shared many pictures. He also gave me a number of Pics from Nick's album, after Nick's Passing.
